How much pressure should be used when block sanding?
The simple answer is just enough to hold the sanding block against the panel and sand with it. Simply put, don’t push any harder then you need to. Here are a couple reasons
- The panel you’re sanding shouldn’t be moving at all. Body panels typically don’t have a lot of strength, and it doesn’t take much at all to get them to move. If the panel is moving around while you’re block sanding, it will be very difficult to get it straight.
- There is a certain finesse to block sanding. By adding pressure, you’re not letting the block do it’s job.
- With True Blox, if it takes any additional pressure to make the block take the shape of the panel you’re sanding, it’s the wrong block (too rigid/thick).
