When is it appropriate to scuff or sand something for paint? These fenders are a perfect example, a section of the jam will be a darker satin color. Since the clear was never wet sanded in sections, I wanted to get the texture out of it, so I sanded it with 800 grit. If it's something that has been sanded already, and the clear is already flat, an ultra fine soft sand sponge would work just fine. Just because something is going to be satin/matte, doesn't mean you won't see the difference.
